Report on the Dinner held on Saturday 17th March 2012.

St Patricks day was the occasion for NSW Rodfishers annual Landowners Dinner in Oberon. The hall at the Oberon Showground once again provided a terrific venue for event. Around twenty five Rodfishers members took the opportunity to spend a day or two fishing in the region around the event and there were plenty of stories shared amongst members and landowners over a pre dinner drink. A fishing report on the weekends fishing is included later in this bulletin.

The Annual Landowners Dinner is a Rodfishers event intended to foster and develop relationships with Landowners and develop closer ties between the people living in the region, and those of us who like to visit the region to fish.

Special mention of the effort made by Greg Prowse, with assistance from Don Marples, in organising, preparing, and delivering the event must be made. Greg’s efforts were the makings of a fine evening for everyone involved, and the evening progressed without a hitch.

The event was well attended by Landowners and Rodfishers alike, and a wonderful meal and desert (provided by the local Inner Wheel organisation) was eagerly devoured over wine, fishing stories and keen discussion about local issues affecting the region, fishing and, of course, more fishing.

An address by Gerhard Benz to the dinner highlighted the value that Rodfishers place on the relationships with the regional landholders, particularly given the often long history of some of the relationships. Kevin McGrath responded on behalf of Landholders with encouraging and welcoming sentiments.

An enjoyable evening was had by all, refreshing old friendships or making new ones, generally providing everyone the opportunity for a good meal and a smile.
